Viola Davis was among the hundreds of thousands of women who took to the streets across America as part of the 2018 Women’s March.
The Women's March was started in 2017 to advocate legislation and policies regarding human rights and other issues, including women's rights, immigration reform, healthcare reform, reproductive rights, the natural environment, LGBTQ rights, racial equality, freedom of religion, and workers' rights.
Not only did Viola march, but she took the stage to deliver a powerful speech.
“Every single day, your job as an American citizen is not just to fight for your rights, but it is to fight for the right of every individual that is taking a breath, whose heart is pumping and breathing on this earth,” she told the crowd.
Viola Davis also directly addressed the #MeToo movement, speaking on her own experience of sexual assault.
