About The Woman Of The Week: Valerie aka "Val" is the sweetest person you could meet. She retired from Lynn Public Schools after serving 42 years but has always had a soft spot for her city of Lynn! She is very family oriented and has one daughter. After losing her mother to Lung Cancer, Valerie became involved with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network and has participated in the Relay For Life for many years.
Valerie is very active in her church, and in her retirement has remained very active in her community. She is currently on the committee for Stop The Violence: Lynn, and on the board for Lynn Youth Street Outreach Advocacy (LYSOA) which empowers the highest risk youth in the community to reach a positive purpose in life.
Val also volunteers at Girls Inc. in Lynn which is an organization that inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. She also just recently volunteered "MLK Day" at Lynn Museum in honor of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. For all that you do for the community Valerie Deland, WE SALUTE YOU!
