BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Celtics are 40-and-19. That's good for second in the East, and they're two games behind the Raptors.

But the C's dropped 9 of 15 and three in a row heading into the All-Star Break. Boston will try to snap out of that rut tonight in Detroit at 7 p.m.

Jaylen Brown is fresh off a 35-point performance in the Rising Stars Challenge. He said he's not alarmed by the Celts' ups and downs.

"Even the best teams have ups and downs, so for us, experiencing some of that, I think, is necessary just so we can go forward and continue to benefit from it," he said.

He says he thinks the team had a great first half of the year and exceeded the expectation of many.

"At the same time, we fell short because of the bar we set that was so high," he said. "But at the same time, it's not about what people think, it's not about what the media thinks, it's about what we feel going into the second part of the season."

There are 23 games left before the playoffs.

Marcus Smart's due back from his 11-game absence, so that should help a defense that's allowed 125 points per game the last two.

The new-look Pistons featuring Blake Griffin have lost three of four.

The Celts and Pistons have each won on the other's home court in their two meetings this year.
