About The Woman Of The Week: Carolina is a native of Cali, Colombia, and has been a Boston resident for the past 20 years. She holds a Bachelors’ degree in Journalism-Mass Communications from Universidad Autónoma de Occidente. She migrated to the United States soon after graduation to further her education.

In 2006 she graduated with two Master’s degrees from Suffolk University, one in Public Administration and a second one in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations.

Carolina has more than 18 years of experience working in the human services, non-profit sector. she was Director of the Social Services at the Latin American Health Institute, where she was responsible for the design and implementation several federal and state funded programs that were culturally sensitive and met the needs of disenfranchised communities in Boston. She also supervised a staff of 18 and managed a budget of over one million dollars.

Carolina has simultaneously worked as a group facilitator for multiple Batterers Intervention Programs, were she has been able to implement, not only the program curriculum, but also worked with minority groups, including immigrants, supporting them in the process of exploring and questioning their belief system, and understanding ways in which their culture impacts their decision making process.

Ms. Trujillo also worked as a Project Manager for Joslin’s Professional Education Department. In her role she supported Joslin’s mission to educate doctors around the world.

In 2015 Carolina transitioned to Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts where she worked as Manager of Health Disparities and Consumer Quality Information, focusing on identifying opportunity areas to improve quality in service for minority ad socio-economically deprived patients.

In her current role as Community Relations Manager and Director of La Voz Newspaper, she is in charge of developing and implementing culturally sensitive media interventions that capture the specific needs of Latinos residing in the North Shore.

Carolina is a member of the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA), the Lynn Business Partnership and the North Shore Latino Business Association and was recently appointed to be part of the YMCA of Metro North and the Beyond Walls Executive Board of Directors. She also belongs to the Impact Lynn, Lynn TDI Partnership, Celebrate Literacy, Latino Scholarship Fund, Beyond Walls and Stop the Violence Lynn committees.

Carolina is a self-motivated, passionate and well-organized leader who enjoys watching sports, dancing salsa, and spending time with her son Sebastian. She is also very active in her community and for that, we honor her as 97.7 Woman Of The Week!
