BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The NHL Draft gets underway tonight in Dallas but, unless they make a trade, Bruins won't have a first-round pick because of their deal with the Rangers to acquire Rick Nash. B's General Manager Don Sweeney admitted to NESN, looking back, that's gonna hurt

"You kinda have buyer's remorse at this stage, because you took a swing," he said. "Our team was in great position to take a run. I think our players deserved trying to deepen our talent pool at the deadline. We did what we thought was good moves to put us in a strong position, and it didn't work out. So now you look at it and say, boy, you always wonder what you gave up in those situations, because you're left empty-handed walking out of the building Friday night."

Boston has five picks between rounds two and seven tomorrow. The first is scheduled for number 57 in the second round. What types of players are they targeting?

"We've tried to address the depth of our organization," he said. "The skating is a component in the NHL that's paramount. What's the development upside for players, and their ceiling offensively? We want smart, competitive hockey players that fit into what we're trying to do and ultimately be winners. You gotta try and dig, scratch below and find the best players. I think that we have a lot of good, young players that we're proud of, and they're proud to be Boston Bruins. We need to continue to do that."

As for whether he's nearing any moves, Sweeney said here are a lot of balls in the air.
