Columbia Gas Withdraws $33 Million Dollar Rate Hike

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Columbia Gas has changed its mind about raising rates. The Company says it has withdrawn the request it aide to state regulators or the $33 Million Dollar increase.

The Utility says it has to focus on its customers, in wake of the Merrimack Valley Natural Gas explosions and fires.

Columbia Gas had originally asked for a $45 million rate increase with State Utility officials  but the attorney general's office negotiated them down to $33 million. The Commonwealth was considering the company's request when it was withdrawn.
