About Woman Of The Week: Joan is a single mother of two that uprooted from Negril, Jamaica in 1990 to America. She is well known in the Black community especially on the North Shore in Lynn where she owns a popular hair salon.
Whether it’s hair design, braids, extensions, weaves, twists, or natural hair care Joan has that special touch. Joan is devoted to anyone she knows, and recently volunteered her services for a fashion show at a local high school. Seeing the kids faces light up with amazement and excitement reminded her of why she got into the business in the first place. Joan has had a passion for healthy hair care since she started in 1997 and her mantra remains the same to this day, “Excellence without Excuse.”
One thing is for sure, she is a people person and excellent in everything she does. Joan has a heart of gold and is always giving back to the community. If she weren’t a hair stylist, she would be helping people in some capacity. Joan believes she would be in the medical field, probably nursing if it weren't for her success in hair care.
