Recognition from the Massachusetts House of Representatives as PLTW 2018 Rookie Teacher of the Year, spotlight teacher, ballroom pro-am competitor, Rose Scholar, pageant queen Mrs. Massachusetts America 2017, and Mrs. Massachusetts 2018 United States, and of course (PLTW) Project Lead The Way Rookie Teacher of the Year and certified instructor are just a few ways to describe Chakara Cardillo. It is not hard to understand why Chakara is a game changer, and she has no plans to slow down.
Chakara embodies independent spirit and drive to succeed in many areas, providing her own spin on opportunities, all the while remaining true to her main passion-teaching. As a fierce believer in providing opportunities for minorities, Chakara creates countless possibilities for students to become successful, because she truly believes in the potential of young people. Chakara continues to engage her students about problem solving strategies for today’s evolving society with the use of PLTW and MassStem Hub. She believes that we should continue to educate our youth and citizens in healthier ways of living. Using the avenue of teaching and passion for Stem, she continues to enlighten students who reside in urban and rural areas, to assist in society need for array of structural innovations.
Chakara has her Bachelors of Science in Biology with a concentration in Pre-med, and minor of chemistry. With a passion for teaching and education was still prevalent. It was only a matter of time that her innovation became transparent in the curriculum engagement of her students. This experienced fueled her drive to be in the classroom and helped her secure a position as a science and engineering teacher.
Chakara’s visions for her students include helping to build bridges that will steer them towards STEM Sciences in education. She sees herself as an educator who is still learning. Being a part and graduate of the Leadership Institute at the Bridgewater State University and Leadership Institute in the her local school district she continues to drive to be the best teacher and leadership roles. She handles her journey with impeccable grace and great timing, always moving forward and never forgetting to reach out to those who need a hand. Chakara Cardillo is an eight grade engineering teacher, PLTW (science and technology, and design and modeling certified instructor) for Randolph Community Middle School in Randolph, MA.
