No Money For College Life

This is the first semester that my oldest daughter is away from college, and to be honest I miss the "sudden" Friday text mentioning "friends, money, and broke". I never had an issue with giving my daughter money while she was at school. School was a job she worked where she got an education for her time. I don't ever recall sending $800 in a month. If I did, my first question would have been "What the hell's going on 'round here?!?"

My philosophy (and please don't tell her this because she may read this) has always been only give her what she asks for..and exactly what she asked for. Sometimes if she asked for a certain amount, I would go above that number without saying anything. It was a way to let her know that I'm proud of what she was doing in school. Call it a tip of sorts.

If you have a kid in college (or right next door to having one go away to college), here's an article that breaks down what a college kid would need per week to spend.

Warning: dish out money at your own risk and leisure! lol
