Jamaica Plain Roof Caves In After Heavy Rains

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Following hours of heavy rain Monday a roof gave way at a triple-decker in Jamaica Plain Monday.

People were forced out of their homes on Boyslton Street including Alex Koppelman who is one of the dozens displaced.

Koppelman said got the call on his way home from work hearing that the roof on top of his home was taking on water.

So he figured he’d lay out a pot or pan or two but the situation was a much bigger problem.

“The unit above me, actually the ceiling started to implode from all the amount of water that was coming down and as the night went on, the situation got worse and worse,” he said to WBZ-TV.

The Red Cross has stepped in to help those who for the time being have been left without a place to live.

It’s uncertain how much damage it sustained when the people who live here can move back home.
