BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Traffic troubles are now settling in on most of the roads around Boston as construction crews continue their next phase of a two-year project on the Tobin Bridge.
On Tuesday, MassDOT placed lane restrictions on the southbound lanes of Route One in Chelsea and on the bridge.
Lanes there have been reduced from three to two.
Lanes could be reduced to one lane in either direction during the overnight hours.
In an effort to help with traffic congestion from the north, transportation officials opened up the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane on Interstate 93 between Medford and the Zakim Bridge.
MassDOT said that commuters should take advantage of public transportation such as the MBTA T system, bus or commuter rail.
Additional trains have been added on the T Blue Line.
