BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Red Sox open their season two weeks from yesterday in Seattle, but the preseason rolls on today against the Yankees in Tampa, and NESN analyst and fan favorite Jerry Remy will return to the booth for the first time since at least his fourth cancer diagnosis last August.

Remy caught up with WBZ's Jonny Miller at spring training and said he's doing well and cancer-free.

"I'm doing really good," he said. "I went through radiation at the end of last year. I'm in a trial right now. I feel as good as I've ever felt, so hopefully it stays that way for a while."

Sox are just 6-11 this spring, but Remy believes the defending champs are in good shape—though he does have a couple concerns entering the season.

"One, what is Pedroia gonna be like, and the other, who's gonna be the closer?" he said. "And I think that's a pretty simple story down here, I think that's been the story since the beginning, but they're gonna be very good again, there's no question about that. The Yankees are gonna be really good, so I think it's gonna be a dog race again between New York and Boston. I think it's gonna be a little closer than it was last year. It's always fun when both those teams are good!"

Remy said it hurts the pitching staff losing Craig Kimbrel, Joe Kelly, and Steven Wright, but he does think Boston will find its closer—at some point.
